XIII

While taking some photos of a long abandoned church I ran into this little creature in the churchyard.  It's the first time I'd seen a thirteen-lined ground squirrel in the area so it was a small but special event of sorts.  This one was pretty curious and scurried up closer and closer until he or she was only a few feet away from me...up close and personal with a squirrel.

Photographed near Horsham, Saskatchewan on May 15, 2023.

    1. That's for sure. I don't think he or she has had many encounters with humans.

  2. He was certainly looking you over. Very cute little fellow but I'm sure not much liked by the local farmers.

    1. I like these up close and personal encounters with the local wildlife.

They don't seem to proliferate like the Richardson's ground squirrels so I don't think they'd be much of a threat.
