Silvery lupines blooming near Eagle Butte, Alberta in the Cypress Hills.
The lavender blooms are surrounded by an abundance of yellow-flowered sweet clover.
A close-up showing the palmate leaves.
Photographed at the intersection of Eagle Butte Road and Thelma Road on July 9, 2021.
I had to read this twice to be sure - the name Silvery Lupine led me to think that the flowers would be silver in colour (or close to it) so when I saw the purple I thought they were two separate plants. Pretty, no matter what the colour!
ReplyDeleteThere are tiny silver hairs on the leaves giving them a silvery-cast. This is noticeable on the outer edges of the leaves in the third photo.
