Wartime Water Tower

Not many of these still standing.  Enjoy!

Originally built in 1914 to supply water to steam locomotives.

And still in use today but now supplies domestic water to people in the surrounding area.

Photographed at Wartime, Saskatchewan on July 31, 2021.

  1. There were two water towers as can be seen by the foundation by the gas tank. Also, very nice old church when we were there a couple of years ago.

  2. Now I'm curious to know how the tower is filled with water in the first place...is there some sort of pump system? Good that it's still in use, for sure.

    1. Can't say for sure but water may be pumped in from a well nearby.

  3. The sign on the side refers to a well so it must have a pump for the water. It also says the water is not safe for drinking, cooking, food preparation or oral hygiene purposes.
