Today at 2:00 p.m. was the official dedication of the new cenotaph at Saint Margaret's Church and Cemetery.
Approximately 35-40 people attended the unveiling on what turned out to be a gloriously warm and sunny day in the Cypress Hills. Among those in attendance were war heroes, recent immigrants from Ukraine, a wine merchant, local folks, a bagpiper and a host of others.
Most importantly...thanks to everyone for remembering.
Photographed near Eagle Butte, Alberta on November 11, 2022.
Can't have a ceremony without a bagpiper!

DeleteSounds like a nice turnout.
ReplyDeleteWas glad there was such a good turnout for the dedication (see comment below). Thanks Jenn.
DeleteThese photos mark a once in a lifetime event - and are themselves 'historic' as visual records ..thank you. The sword-cross is parallel to that on the Cross of Sacrifice Field of Honour Hillside cemetery Medicine Hat.
ReplyDeleteThanks David. Was happy to photograph the event.
DeleteNice to know that the ceremony was well attended and that there were some veterans there. We always watch the ceremony from Ottawa and find it very moving so I can only imagine how your local veterans must have felt.
ReplyDeleteIt was a memorable occasion for everyone. The veterans at Saint Margaret's will always be remembered.
