Day One of a week long road trip in Saskatchewan. This is the long abandoned Pella Mennonite Church near Neville, Saskatchewan.
Lots of windows but why there are two windows above the porch is a mystery as there is no second story or balcony.
A look inside.
I stopped here a couple of years ago but didn't go inside. This time I stepped in and saw the remains of what must have been quite a lovely stamped tin ceiling.
There is a tiny cemetery a few hundred feet up the slope with only two headstones.
The church sits hidden from view in a small valley. Nice location. Nice view.
Photographed on July 24, 2021.
Seeing those two 'extra' windows almost makes me wonder if it wasn't meant to be a house and then got changed to a church in mid-build. Either way, it's a pretty location.
ReplyDeleteThis is in a part of Saskatchewan that everyone thinks is "flat." Lots of little hidden coulees and valleys.
DeleteBeen here once and got here due to your help. Nice spot and a return trip is in order.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it's covered in snow next time around.
