"Щасливого Різдва!"

"Merry Christmas!" to those who follow the Julian calendar.

This is Holy Trinity Orthodox Church at Kahwin, Alberta.

The congregation was established in 1931 at which time the first church was built.  After being destroyed by fire a new church, the one shown here, began construction in 1934.

The free standing bell tower is designed to house three bells (although only two bells are installed here).

A memorial table dedicated to the pioneers of the area.

The attractive bronze-coloured dome and cupolas are topped with black wrought iron crosses.

The cemetery was established in the early 1900's by Presbyterians and continues to be used to this day.  On this occasion a few of the headstones in the cemetery were decorated for the holiday season.

Even if you don't follow the Julian calendar, another holiday is always welcome.

"Щасливого Різдва!" means "Merry Christmas!" in Ukrainian.

  1. Now I wonder (do you ever notice I do that a lot??) if one of the bells was stolen or if there simply never was a third one installed.

    1. Wondering is a good thing. :-)
In this case it appears the third bell was never installed.
