Ukrainian settlers arrived predominantly from the Borshchiv district to the Glentworth, Saskatchewan area in 1908.
In 1926 they built this little country church and dedicated it as Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church.
There is also a small cemetery...
...with an expansive view.
Don't forget to ring the bell!

Nice to see this old church so well cared for.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know what to expect but it was a nice surprise to see it so well maintained. Thanks Dale.
DeleteWow - one wouldn't want to have to repeat that very long name too often! Lovely little church though.
ReplyDeleteAll the locals simply call it Saint Mary's. (Some of the Ukrainian church names are even longer than this one.) Thanks MA.
