Smoky Butte Township School

A one room school near Stady, North Dakota.

The flagpole is still straight and the building looks as sturdy as the day it was built.

The two doors suggest separate boy's and girl's entrances.

An unusual feature of the school is that the brick chimney has been stuccoed.

Photographed on December 19, 2018.

  1. Perhaps the addition of the stucco on the chimney was in order to preserve it. Great looking building overall.

    1. The stucco has helped to preserve the chimney for certain. I always like to see the 'wall of windows' in the old schools.
