Pronghorns

A trio of pronghorns near the ghost town of Horsham, Saskatchewan.

As soon as I got out of the car they ran a short distance away then stopped and turned around.  They aren't as shy as they used to be.

There seem to be more pronghorns in this area than in any of the other places I frequently travel.

I always enjoy seeing wildlife on the wide open prairie.

Photographed on July 30, 2019.

  1. The funny thing is I cannot get photos of them in Alberta, they are always so skittish. If I see them in Saskatchewan I do not have the same problem.

    1. Wild animals are "so" unpredictable.

Some of my best shots of them are just north of the Cypress Hills in Alberta and around Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan.

  2. You know, I've lived on the prairies my entire life and I've never seen any pronghorns.

    1. I see them mostly (and I do mean lots of them) in the corner of southeast Alberta/southwest Saskatchewan. It's a special treat to see mama with her babies in the spring.
