Paintbrush

Pink paintbrush blooming northeast of Lac la Biche on the Heart Lake Indian Reserve.  This native plant is also known as Indian Paintbrush or Prairie Fire.

Most of the paintbrush I've seen has red flowers so it was a treat to see these blooming all along the cleared area between the gravel road and forest.

Photographed near Imperial Mills, Alberta on June 25, 2022.

    1. Thanks Debra. There were pink blooms (almost) everywhere.

  2. Very pretty! I haven't seen those around here, but that's not to say there aren't any.

    1. I'm not sure if it is native in the eastern provinces. Lots of it here in the west.
