There are now several different varieties of lilacs available and each variety blooms at a slightly different time. One yard where I do some gardening has one lilac or another blooming over a period of about five weeks. Pretty nice.
They are still my favourite as well. There is a Dwarf Korean Lilac that somehow seems to be able to spread it's sweet fragrance all over the neighbourhood (and it's tough and hardy here too).
I love lilac time! It's too short though!

DeleteThe old fashioned lilacs still smell the best (even though they do make me sneeze!).
