Transfiguration

Transfiguration of Jesus Ukrainian Orthodox Church on a very cold winter afternoon.

The church was built in 1949 but was never completely finished.

My hope is that the building is allowed to stand as an artifact of the past for many years to come.

Photographed near Fosston, Saskatchewan on January 19, 2021.

  1. Wonder why it was never finished - probably lack of funds. I wonder if it was ever even used or abandoned in mid creation.

    1. There was conflict within the congregation so after parting ways one church was built nearby in the town of Claire (which has been demolished) and the second one built is the one you see here. Services were conducted at Transfiguration though the inside of the church was never completed...but there was a chandelier and icons on banners, weddings and dinners on Ukrainian holidays.
