Our Lady of Perpetual Help

Welcome to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery.

I love the colours of the church.

The view from the cemetery...

...where a large silver-coloured cross stands at the entrance.

From a different angle the headstones are more prominent.

Walking back to the church along the north side.  The bell tower is large and tall for the size of the church...and the entire roof is covered in fresh snow.

Even though it looks cold it really wasn't.  The overcast sky helped to hold in what little warmth there was so a sweater and windbreaker did the trick.

Many years ago the arched alcove higher up on the bell tower would have held the statue of a saint associated with the church.

A large sandblasted wooden sign bearing the name of the church and cemetery.  I have seen several similar signs at other churches but none have had such a compelling central image as the one you see here...definitely Eastern European in flavour.

Photographed near Spruce Valley in Athabasca County, Alberta on February 19, 2021.

  1. I'm with you in liking that colour combination. It would have been nice had the red brick chimney been painted that wonderful yellow too - then it wouldn't have stuck out as much.

    1. The red chimney certainly does make for quite the colour contrast. All in all, it's a beauty!
