More Ghosts

An addendum to a post I made on The view from here... ...

...almost four years ago.  The post referred to was entitled Photos of Ghosts ...

...and visually celebrates the lives of those buried here with ceramic photographs.

The late afternoon winter light caught the ring of gold "just right" on this lovely photograph.

Sunset

Sunset on the balcony...even better with a glass of wine or two.

Wet Dog

A little south of Saint Mary's Church at Boian I saw this dog playing in the water-filled ditch near her farm....you know, out doing "dog stuff."  She doesn't look wet but her belly was soaked (as I soon found out) but she was friendly, happily posed for a few photos and added more than a little something to my day out in the country.

After a cuddle she was back in the water and I was on my way to Saint Mary's Church at Hairy Hill...wet pants and all.

Quack-Quack

It was lunch time and the closest place to get a bite to eat was in Andrew.  It was a Sunday and the restaurant was packed...just about everyone in town was either eating-out or picking up a pizza to go.  Since it would be about twenty minutes before my order was ready I decided to take a walk around town and...

...just across the street was this sculpture of a Mallard duck.

Weighing in at a ton with a wingspan of twenty-three feet I'm sure its won its billing as the "Largest Mallard Duck in the World."  Fun stuff.

Paintbrush

Pink paintbrush blooming northeast of Lac la Biche on the Heart Lake Indian Reserve.  This native plant is also known as Indian Paintbrush or Prairie Fire.

Most of the paintbrush I've seen has red flowers so it was a treat to see these blooming all along the cleared area between the gravel road and forest.

"Honeymoon"

The church at Honeymoon was built in 1926.

The monument beside the church has two small wooden doors that, when opened, reveal a beautiful painting of Saints Peter and Paul.

The cemetery is about six hundred feet north of the church.  In 1999 the grounds were extensively cleaned-up and updated.

Церква Святої Марії

The first of five posts featuring photographs taken on August 6, 2020...a very hot day in the Saskatchewan countryside.

"Saint Mary's Church"

This is the first church of the parish and was constructed in 1917.  Although a much larger church was built in Meath Park in 1958, the original country church and cemetery you see here are still maintained as a historical site.
