Silver Pine Church of the Ascension is also known as Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church.
It was constructed between 1940 and 1941.
After the original bell tower had deteriorated in the 1970's the bell was mounted on a concrete cairn on the original site of the bell tower.
The metal mission cross that stands on the opposite side of the church was erected in 2002 after the original wooden mission cross had decayed. This "new" cross was obtained from the now closed All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church in Nipawin.
Two jet black headstones decorated with orange sunflowers stand on the far edge of the cemetery.

Very pastoral scene in that first photo. Another one that looks very well kept.
ReplyDeleteEverything here was "just perfect." That doesn't happen very often...but it is nice when it does.
