Please Respect This Site

Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church is near Glidden, Saskatchewan.

It was a foggy and frosty day in the country which always makes for alluring pictures.  The caragana hedge behind the church was covered in thick hoar frost.

The apse of the church is an unusual four-sided shape with windows on two of those sides.

The three wrought iron crosses are oversize and distinctive.

Even when this sign is not physically present, as it is here, it's a sign that should be in mind at all heritage sites.  Please respect all historical sites.

Photographed on November 22, 2020.

  1. All of these old churches and other buildings and structures should be respected whether or not they are heritage sites. We all lose out when we would like to visit these places and the authors don't share the locations because of vandalism.

    1. We all need to protect what little history we have remaining. Thanks Dale.

  2. Unfortunately the people those signs are targeting are the sorts that would simply ignore them anyway. Most of the old barns in this area were torn apart by people wanting barn boards for their rec room decor which explains why there are so few around. At least many of the churches have been turned into homes so at least there's been some preservation. Doesn't make for great photo opportunities though.
