Green Dell S.D. No. 3118

This one room school sits on a low rise in the open prairie.

Looking up from the road towards the school.

Instead of the usual wooden plank siding, this schoolhouse has a stucco finish.

This design of historical marker is popular in the area.

Photographed near Pennant, Saskatchewan on August 2, 2020.

  1. I always think it's interesting that these schools are seemingly in the middle of nowhere. I suppose they were centralized in the area so kids wouldn't have to walk too far.

    1. The idea at the time was to locate the schools in such a way that the kids were within 3.5 miles of a school. In Saskatchewan there were over 5000 schools districts.
