A beautiful stone church near Kaleland, Alberta.
Striking is an understatement! The rounded apse is remarkable.
The church and bell tower
The cemetery is directly behind the church.
A married couple's headstones painted with stars and enclosed by a woven wire fence.
The outdoor altar is dated 1929 and is attached directly onto the fenced grave plot behind it.
I don't tend to pick "favourites," but if I did, this would be one of them.

It's stunning! A real gem!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra. This one far exceeded my expectations.
DeleteI have photographed this church a couple of times. It is one of a kind. Would like to see inside.
ReplyDeleteI've seen photos of the interior and there is a beautiful two-level iconostasis in the nave.
DeleteHave you seen the old school and store in Kaleland?
ReplyDeleteI missed them.
DeleteI have been nearby but keep missing this one. I will have to visit.
ReplyDeleteThis one is a must!
DeleteI've never seen a round 'back end' before - guess it would be harder for the devil to catch you!
ReplyDeleteNo corners to hide in! The round "beck end" is called the apse. The stone masons really got this one right.
DeleteThat is a really unique church! Thanks for sharing it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. This was an exceptional find!
