Sandy Point Bridge

Sandy Point Bridge crosses the South Saskatchewan River near McNeill, Alberta.

Driving across (and through) a steel truss bridge is always somewhat of an "event" that never seems to lose its thrill.  One of those little things that adds some colour to an otherwise ho-hum day, if you know what I mean.

Photographed along Buffalo Trail (Alberta 41) on February 24, 2022.

  1. That is quite the bridge. FYI I have a small cemetery marked just northwest of McNeill that I haven't been to.

  2. What a beautiful setting it's in. And four arches! Wow!

    1. The scenery all along the river valley is picturesque to say the least.

  3. Seeing this got me to thinking how, prior to the bridge being built, difficult it must have been to navigate through there. Sure would take a lot longer than the short cut over the bridge.

    1. There may have been a ferry here at one time. There are still a handful of cable ferries in the area.
