A train-themed heritage park on the upper bank of the North Saskatchewan River in Heinsburg, Alberta...includes a water tower, train station caboose and speeder. Looks like a nice place for a picnic in warmer weather.

Old water towers like that are pretty rare these days! And we always called speeders "jiggers." That caboose has seen better days though -- looks like it got graffitied too, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI've also heard speeders/jiggers called scooters.
DeleteBeen here. The old water towers are quite scarce. Only two are still on their original foundation. A lot of stuff was taken up when rail lines were abandoned.
ReplyDeleteThis water tower is still in good condition. Not many left in Alberta but there are a few more in Saskatchewan. There's a real beauty of a water tower in Harris, Saskatchewan.
DeleteGreat looking water tower and an interesting shape. Seeing the caboose reminded me (once again!) that I need to remember to take my camera and visit one of our parks here that has a really nice display of trains.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a good idea to have a camera (or a cell phone camera) along for the ride. You never know what you might find!
