Saint Alban's at Chailey

This is Saint Alban's Anglican Church at Chailey, Alberta.  It was built in 1908 following an influx of British settlers to the area.

A square crenellated tower is often found on Anglican country churches.

The cemetery behind the church has been in use since 1915.

The view to the west from outside...

...and from inside.

Some winter afternoon sunlight brightens up the woodwork.  The church appears to be mostly original as built both inside and outside.

The six panel door is both rare and a character defining element of the church.

The church was officially closed in 1971...

...but is still used for special services.

Above the front door...inside looking out.

This one is a sweetheart.

  2. Visited the church in summer 2014. Looks like it got a new paint job since then. Nice to see the interior. Thanks.

  3. I have been here and seen the inside as well. I saw it in the summer and there happened to be a event put on by the historical society.
