CN Train Station in Carlyle

Carlyle’s historic 1909 CN Station is now home to the Rusty Relics Museum.

This is the type of railroad crossing sign I remember seeing when I was a kid.

On site is a CP caboose...

...Number 437072.

A motorized jigger.  Every time I saw one of these zooming along the tracks I wanted to hop on for a ride.

Photographed in Carlyle, Saskatchewan on December 17, 2018.

  1. Back in the day, I knew a couple of teen boys who lived in Carlyle, SK. I wonder if they're still in the area.

And jiggers! I lived near the railway tracks in our small Manitoba town and when we kids heard the jigger coming down the tracks in the late afternoon, we knew it was time to quit playing with our friends and go home for supper.

    1. Jiggers always looked like a "freedom ride..." kids had no idea how hard these guys had to work.

Take a drive out to Carlyle and see what the boys are up to these days.

  2. Too bad more of these wonderful buildings couldn't be transformed into museums. Double good - not only would preserve the buildings but also give a good local history that would be lost otherwise.
