The Elevator in McCord

The grain elevator in McCord, Saskatchewan.

I stopped at the general store in town where I asked the young woman at the checkout if she knew anything about the elevator.  Of course she did...her dad owned it and still used it!  Small world.

Zion Lutheran Church and Cemetery

Zion Lutheran Church and Cemetery are near Horsham, Saskatchewan.

According to the Germans from Russia Heritage Society the church and cemetery were active from 1919 to 1950.

The sunflower motif on the tall white headstone symbolizes devotion to God.  It's a symbol that isn't as common as one might imagine in a Christian cemetery.

The Myrfield Family Farm

I was driving along a country road near Buchanan, Saskatchewan when I noticed a "Century Family Farm Award" sign to the side of the driveway.

I stopped to take a few photos and no sooner had I stepped out of the car when this friendly Labrador Retriever came running out to see me.

She looks eager and happy.

The snow doesn't bother her one little bit.

Yes, some dogs can smile.

Making contact with animals is a rewarding experience.

Outdoor Nativity Scene

The outdoor nativity scene at Saint Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

This is the style of nativity scene that was popular when I was a kid...a cut out painted plywood design that poignantly presents the meaning of Christmas.

Little Juniper Tree

I came across this little juniper tree growing in a ditch along a country road near Edson, North Dakota.

This is pretty well in the middle of nowhere but someone with Christmas spirit decided to doll it up for the holidays.  Good on 'em!

Holy Trinity

The first post celebrating Christmas...

This is a photo of the side gate to Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery near Norquay, Saskatchewan.  The red and green garlands adorning both the front and side gates of the cemetery add a touch of Christmas spirit to the countryside.
