A Yellow-Headed Blackbird near Horsham, Saskatchewan. Don't see these very often where I live so it was treat so spot several of them on a recent road trip.
They've been visiting the prairies for as long as I can remember and seem to like the small wetland areas of southeastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan (which is where I see them most often).
I've NEVER seen one! A red-winged blackbird, yes, but these must be newcomers to the prairies?

DeleteOhhhhhh, wetlands! That's why I never saw any in southwestern Manitoba then.
DeleteSometimes a "wetland" doesn't amount to much more than a slough in a farmer's field but it's a good seasonal home for them.
