Near the end of the day at Quill Lake Cemetery.

Amber and Sienna

Amber and sienna tones define the stained glass windows at Saint Luke's Catholic Church in Noonan, North Dakota.  The touches of lavender and green set each one off nicely.  Enjoy!

This is the window above the side door near the altar.  It is the only window of the group that has no green glass.  It's also much smaller than the others but with a unique design.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church near Acadia Valley, Alberta.

The gate sign frames the church nicely.

The church was built in 1918 with...

...the cemetery being established in 1917.

A gate for each the cemetery and the church is unusual but much appreciated...makes a statement.

"O"

The congregation of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Parish was established in 1904.

A small log and mud church built at the time was soon outgrown so in 1919 the larger church seen in these photos was built. 

The majority of the parishioners were Polish and Ukrainian immigrants from Galicia.

"N"

Norrona Lutheran Church was built over a century ago by Norwegian immigrants.

Lilies beginning to bloom in the cemetery.

The church and cemetery have been in continuous use since their inception in 1917.  A cousin of mine is now the pastor here.

...and vice versa, the "old fashioned" kneeling altar looks like new.

"M"

This is Saint Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church and Cemetery near Fosston, Saskatchewan.

Building on the church started in 1910 and was completed in 1911.  It was the first church in the district.

Many of the founding members are now at rest in the adjoining cemetery.

"L"

Lawtonia Zion Lutheran Church was built in 1919.

The steeple is tall with pinnacles on each corner. Notice the nest...a bird has decided this is a good place to raise a family.

The "Memory Lane" gate entrance leads to the cemetery.

The church has recently been repainted with the exception of the tallest part of the steeple.  I'm sure they'll get to that soon.

The church is a local landmark.

A New Visitor

The newest visitor to my balcony is this male Downy Woodpecker.

I used to see him only occasionally but he's now a daily visitor.

He's pretty showy with his red nape, striped head and spotted wings.

Peanuts are his favourite.

"K"

I was on my way from Wynyard to Regina, via the back roads of course, and just around a corner was Kutawa School...a complete surprise!

In need of a fresh coat of paint but other than that the building seems to be pretty solid.

The original paint scheme was white with navy blue trim.

That flagpole is as straight as the day is was made.
