Viking Park

Viking Park has been developed only over the past couple of years and I have to say that those manning the ship are doing a marvellous job.  Much of the planting has been done just this past year.

(Hmmm...would you mess with this guy?!  I thought not.)

Stop by for a visit next time you're in Gimli, Manitoba.

  1. That's so great that there's now a nice landscaped park enhancing the Viking statue. The last time I was in Gimli, he was just standing there all by himself.

    1. They've done a fantastic job landscaping. I'm sure Mr. Viking would be more than pleased with the outcome.

  2. Every statue looks better with some landscaping! Interestingly, I saw something recently (but can't remember where) that said that the Vikings never had 'horns' on their headgear and that it's a recent depiction taken from fantasy. Don't know how much of that is true though.

    1. Lovely landscaping here (and in such a short period of time too). Maybe the horned helmets were something they only wore on special occasions (not part of their everyday garb)?
