South of Moose Jaw

Heading south of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan I saw this historical bow string bridge.  I'm always pleased to run across one of these...big or small.

This one is still in use.

Photographed on November 4, 2020.

  1. One of my favourite topics. Is this the bridge just west of H2 between the city and air base? When I was there a couple of years ago there were no trespassing signs on the east approach to the bridge.

    1. That is the one and there are still no trespassing signs. I shot the photos from the ditch/road allowance...no trespassing necessary. While I was there a lady drove from across the bridge and as she passed by she waved and smiled...she knew what I was up to and didn't mind at all.

    2. These bridges were built by the provincial government on public roads. I wonder how this road/bridge became private property considering its location.

    3. My guess would be that the government sold the bridge for one dollar to the landowner who would then be responsible for the maintenance. (Looks like the main road now goes around this property.)
