All Saint's near Crocus

All Saint's Anglican Church and Cemetery is near Crocus, Manitoba.

The church opened on August 10, 1884 and was regularly used for the next seventy years.  After the church was deconsecrated in the mid-1990's, a non-profit organization completely renovated the building...and what a fine job they did.  It would be a nice place for a summer wedding.

    1. This is one of the best restoration/preservation jobs I've seen in my travels.

  2. What a beautiful setting for a wedding. How wonderful that a group has taken it over and it taking care of it...too bad that wouldn't happen more often.

    1. There is definitely a dedicated group who care about the church...and I'm with them on that.

  3. There are most unusual features for this lovely building. Three windows over the altar when often there were none as with St Margaret's Eagle Butte Cypress Hills . plus windows in the west wall. Said windows 'weaken' both east and west walls - putting more stress upon the side walls and to some degree the roof. The bell tower is attractive but the weight of it also puts downward pressure upon both side and west end - such stress factors and how they were handled is a great compliment to the original builders!

  4. The side window treatment is worthy of consideration by pausing to look through the glass to verdant views and their translucent panes. The south side with the upright rectangle perhaps helps filter/soften a hot summer drying light? The north side windows have a style of their own. This commplete structure and its setting are truly unique...a 'jewel' in the country side.

  5. I correct myself the windows with the extra treatment are on the north side looking towards the chancel. These photos and moments have brought murmurs of peace and reflection to my soul tonight. Thank you Michael
